Answer: 1/2
Two equal pieces means each piece is 1/2.
A pizza is cut into 4 equal slices. What fraction is one slice?
Answer: 1/4
Four equal slices means each slice is 1/4.
What is 1/2 of 12 sweets?
Answer: 6
Half means one of 2 equal parts: 12 ÷ 2 = 6 sweets.
What is 1/4 of 20 balloons?
Answer: 5
A quarter means one of 4 equal parts: 20 ÷ 4 = 5 balloons.
Which of these fractions is the largest?
Answer: 1/2
The fewer equal parts a whole is cut into, the bigger each part is — so 1/2 is the largest.
1/2 + ? = 1
Answer: 1/2
One whole is 2/2, and 2/2 − 1/2 = 1/2.
A chocolate bar is broken into 3 equal pieces. What fraction is two of the pieces?

Two of three equal pieces is 2/3.
There are 18 pencils and 1/3 of them are red. How many pencils are red?
