Answer: 54
36 + 18 = 54.
Siti had 70 stickers. She gave 24 of them to her sister. How many stickers did she have left?
Answer: 46
70 − 24 = 46.
5 rows of chairs have 4 chairs in each row. How many chairs are there altogether?
Answer: 20
5 × 4 = 20.
18 muffins are shared equally onto 3 plates. How many muffins are on each plate?
Answer: 6
18 ÷ 3 = 6.
Ali collected 45 shells. Bala collected 12 more than Ali. How many shells did they collect altogether?
Answer: 102
Bala has 45 + 12 = 57. Altogether: 45 + 57 = 102.
A shop had 90 apples. It sold 25 in the morning and 18 in the afternoon. How many apples were left?
Answer: 47
90 − 25 = 65, then 65 − 18 = 47.
A sandwich costs $3.50. How much change is there from $5?
Answer: $1.50
$5 − $3.50 = $1.50.
A baker packed 6 boxes with 5 tarts in each box, then baked 4 more tarts. How many tarts did he bake altogether?
Answer: 34
6 × 5 = 30, then 30 + 4 = 34.
A red ribbon is 36 cm long. A blue ribbon is 14 cm long. How much longer is the red ribbon?
Answer: 22 cm
36 − 14 = 22 cm.
8 children each have 3 books. How many books do they have altogether?
Answer: 24
8 × 3 = 24.
