Each number is 250 more than the one before, so after 2000 comes 2250.

Answer: 162
Each number is 3 times the one before, so 54 × 3 = 162.
9000, 8250, 7500, 6750, ?
Answer: 6000
Each number is 750 less than the one before, so 6750 − 750 = 6000.
440, ?, 560, 620
Answer: 500
The numbers rise by 60 each time: 440, 500, 560, 620.
6, 13, 20, 27, … What is the 10th number in this pattern?
Answer: 69
The pattern adds 7 each time, so the 10th number is 6 + 9 × 7 = 69.
In the pattern 5, 11, 23, 47, …, what is the rule?
Answer: double and add 1
5 × 2 + 1 = 11, 11 × 2 + 1 = 23 and 23 × 2 + 1 = 47, so the rule is double and add 1.
108, 120, 132, 144, ?
Answer: 156
This is the 12 times table from 108, so after 144 comes 156.
Which number does not belong in the pattern 7, 14, 21, 28, …?
Answer: 46
The pattern counts in 7s, and 46 is not in the 7 times table.
A pattern of squares uses 4 sticks for 1 square, 7 for 2 squares in a row and 10 for 3. How many sticks are needed for 8 squares?
Answer: 25
After the first square, each new one adds 3 sticks: 4 + 7 × 3 = 25.
2400, 2100, 1800, ?
Answer: 1500
Each number is 300 less than the one before, so 1800 − 300 = 1500.
